Maydaymania - Best Fans

I just attended the F1 Rocks, which featured the Asian Pop stars, namely Da Mouth, Sodagreen, A-Mei and Jacky Cheung.

I do not know what was wrong with the audience. How can they not be moved by the music? Especially the heart-thumping numbers!!!

After the concert, I remembered an article which commented that Mayday fans were the most awesome lot! Yes, the Mayday fans are truly the best! They really know how to enjoy a concert. They can sing along to almost all their songs, dance, jump and scream their lungs out!!!

It also seemed the most of the audience were at F1 Rocks mainly to see Jacky Cheung. I know he is a fantastic performer and singer, but, as audience, we should also give our support to other performing artists such as Da Mouth and Sodagreen.

Personally, I think the best performers are probably Da Mouth and Sodagreen. Sodagreen's sound system was down during one of their numbers and they had to stop their show while the technical crew fixed the problem. Da Mouth and Sodagreen were more sincere and put in their best, despite knowing that most of the audience were there to see Jacky Cheung. A-mei is good, as expected, Nothing to complain, really.

I am proud to admit I am there to see Sodagreen and Da Mouth and seeing A-Mei and Jacky Cheung are like a bonus to me. At least, for the show tonight. Jacky Cheung reminded me very much of Adam Lambert, the runner of last season's American Idol, which saw Kris Allen as the eventual winner.

So, not everyone can be a rocker. Jacky can sing very well, but rock is not his forte.

Rock is best left to Mayday, who are the ones who can do justice to rock music!

All the Best to Mayday for their 4 days concert at Taipei Arena!!!!!

I will update again after the F1 race.

Meantime, have a good weekend!

Maydaymania - Favourite YouTube Clips of MayDay D.N.A concerts in Singapore

《明白》, a song which I never thought Mayday will sing at the concert.
《拥抱》, a song which always melts my heart TOTALLY!!!! Thanks to youtube, I can always have this concert version.

《爱情的摸样》, another song, which I did not expect them to sing. Love it!

《I LOVE YOU 无望》, this is one of the few Hokkien ballad which I really really love!!!
As for the fast numbers, one will have to be at the concert to truly appreciate them strumming their strings away or drumming wildly or singing into a state of trance!

Simply speechless concerts!!! 8.28 and 8.29 will now have special meanings... ....

MayDaymania - Scrapbooking

This accordin album was made using Maya Road Accordin Chpbaord Album. Patterned Paper: American Carft. Photos were taken from BinMayDay 的相簿PIXNET。

Yes, after the first concert, I managed to find some nice pictures of the MayDay Singapore concert and used them to make an accordin album as a Christmas present for my friend - B. She was very happy. And of course, every now and then, she will receive either a MayDay themed scapbooking related work or some Mayday related item as birthday/Christmas present. I am glad that she has not complained abit.

This year, Xiu, B and later, Juan will all receive a MayDay themed mini album. Hopefullly, this mini album will help to capture the memories of that much enjoyable concert, which we attended in January, 2009. Everyone's mini album is a bit different because of the journalling and depending on the materials I have at hands at the time of making the album. Shown in the blog is the album meant for B.

Some glimpses of that album -

Thanks for looking!

Maydaymania - 《五月天离开地球表面》极限大碟

Mayday doing an online interview with the crowd at Bishan Junction 8, the Outdoor Plaza. This was an event for pre-ordering their 2007 JUMP World Tour concert CD or CD+DVD. They release this compilation just weeks before their sold-out 3 days flagship concerts at Taipei Arena, Taipei, Taiwan. One lucky audience who was also at this launch event got to walk away with a pair o all-expense-paid trip to see them at Taipei Arena. Lucky!!!

I got the compilation with the septia tone.

For most who do not know that little bit about me not liking Mayday initially, one may think that I am a huge/number 1/die-hard/hardcore fan of Mayday. Yes, who have guessed that I got addicted to them only in 2007! Even I find if difficult to convince myself that I am a MayDay fan now.

I must admit that I was one of those in the crowd who was so moved by their concert that I nearly cried. Strange right? Especially when their last song was a medley of their own number and one of Hong Kong's rock band Beyond's " Paradise". Strangely enough, I could sing Paradise much better than their other song in the medley - 《倔强》.

Anyway, what happened after the concert was a rapid addiction to their works as well as catching up on their latest activities and news online and on any media, be it magazines or tv or online. When I found out the so-called fan club in Singapore, I even emailed the president of the fan club to find out more about their club.

And while listening to the radio, I heard about them launching a CD compilation of their JUMP concert songs. Just a compilation of some of the songs sung at the concert! I got so excited that I went to the shop to pre-order it immediately. And when the announcement of their online video conference was released, I asked Juan if she was interested to go to Junction 8 at Bishan to attend the event. Juan is truly the Monster of our gang. She gladly accepted the invitation.

So, about one month later, Juan and I attended the launch, laughed at the clips shown, talked about their works, took some very shaky pictures of video conference, trying to look for our faces when the organiser released clips of their concert in Singapore and of course, while neither of us was lucky enough to win the all-expense paid trip to Taipei, both of us got a copy of their 《知足》 KTV compilation VCD and a mouse pad of their “Born to Love" mouse pad. Juan was very very very sweet because she gave the mouse pad to B!!!

Of course, I was very happy.

If there is one thing to make me truly happy, that will be to attend a Mayday concert with friends and fellow MayDay fans. Now, I must find a boyfriend who will be willing to either attend or support me to attend the MayDay concerts.

I am MayDay crazy!

MayDaymania - JUMP离开地球表面

Picture taken on Saturday, 2nd June 2007, Singapore Expo. using an Olympus miu300 digital camera with 3X optical zoom. Mayday thanking the fans after their last song for the night.

When I told my other friends and family that I would be attending my very first Mandarin concert, everyone was shocked! Firstly, they had never expected that I would ever attend a Mandarin concert. Secondly, they thought that I only attend Classical concerts at the Esplanade. Thirdly, they felt that I was more of a musical fan rather than one who would spend money on what they believed to be a "waste-money" kind of concert. Forth, they did not believe that I liked Rock.

Prior to this concert, I was like many of my "non-MayDay" fan friends ,who believed that MayDay concerts and alike were meant for the not-so-well-educated, the young teenagers who enjoyed chasing their idols round the island and that it was a money-making concert.

Of course, I was thorougly wrong. This concert had made me addicted not only to their songs and the band, but had taught me much as well.

I was re-doing a module when I attended their concert. Before the start of the concert, I was very disappointed, sad and angry for not doing well for the module and had to retake to module from January 2007 till May2007. I had studied very hard for the module but somehow, when the result was released a week before the concert, I was devasted that I only had a passing grade, which indicated that it was not good enough to go through to the next stage. This also meant another meeting with the professors in school the Tuesday after the MayDay concert.

I know, to attend a MayDay concert under such circumstances was terribly unbearable. I was on the verge of not attending the concert. I was very moody, aimless and basically, unable to be sort out my thoughts. I just felt, that's it, I was not going to make it to the next stage of my course and I had not only failed myself and those who support me morally, but had also embarrassed myself terribly. I know it is dumb to to equate academic achievements to career achievements, but, I am stuggling to tell myself not to think as such like the other foresightless colleagues.

My colleagues were starting to count down to the days when the five of us were going to attend a concert together as friends. I did not know if they had any expectations but I certainly did not have any. For me, it was just an experience to enhance my music exposure. I had gone to K lunch at K Box, probably one or two weeks before the concert to familarize myself with MayDay's works, played the 知足compilation a couple of times, and then looked at the lyrics of the compilation on the afternoon of the concert.

My family was very sure that I was not going to enjoy myself. They were very sure that I was going to go home and complained. They were very sure there was no way I was going to like MayDay because I had never ever show signs of liking them. Some of my friends were also confident that there was no way I was going to like them. They thought that I was going to the concert because my other friends were going, so, I had decided to tag along. I was sure the concert would end exactly two hours later, which was ten, whether they were going to start on time or not. So, I would not have trouble going home after the then "much dreaded" concert.

And so, we arranged to meet at Bedok Interchange to have a quick dinner and then, B's sister's friend would drive us all to Singapore Expo. We chitchat, took some pictures of ouselves while on the van. B and her sister had earlier attended their mini showcase, so, was looking forward to their L.O.V.E mass exercise.

I was still abit moody but the excitment was slowly creeping in. When we reached Singapore Expo, I started to get excited. I remembered taking pictures of ouselves because it was our first concert together as friends and it was a Mandarin concert. Juan and S already knew what to expect from Mayday while I was busy telling them that I would be going to the loo when their special guest was singing. Juan was speculating who their special guest would be when I asked her if there was going to be one.

Around 8:24pm, the concert started with some screening and then a movie clip. Suddenly, all the fans were on their feet when MayDay appeared and their lead singer sang the first line. Although a novice to a rock concert, I was on my feet too and I remembered telling B while they were halfway through their first song, that we had to get the front seats should they come back for another concert!!! It was not even half way through the concert when I said that. I also wished time would stop that night. The concert ended at around 1120pm.

I could remembered vividly that it was a concert that was very enjoyable. Throughout the concert, S and I were discussing the various songs and telling each other which were the songs we had sang at the karaoke session and why did some of the songs had lyrics which was about buying a cup of orange juice. An eyeopener indeed. My throat was hoarse from all the sing-a-longs and shouting. My arm was aching as a result of waving my "light sabre" and my legs were tired for standing almost throughout the concert.

The band did not stop until halfway through the concert when Ashin introduced the band to the audience. At that time, I really, really liked Monster. I also thought that Masa and I looked quite alike, except that I am fatter and am a girl. The strangest thing was that I was able to tell S that 《离开地球表面》 was a song written specially for the concert. Never mind how I knew it. I remembered jumping when Ashin cued us all for a jump. It was like a mass disco party!

And then, there was the much awaited L.O.V.E mass "exercise". The crowd went wild and mad as almost everyone was on their feet to do their L.O.V.E!!! I think we were all very happy and excited. 《终结孤单》was another song which saw the crowd went wild.

There were many Hokkien songs being sung but I really did not know the songs as all except for 《志明与春娇》. As for the Chinses songs, I could only remember the following being sung:

《拥抱》,《离开地球表面》,《为爱而生》,《最重要的小事》,《人生海海》,《终结孤单》,《香水》,《孙悟空》and 《恋爱 I-N-G>。 I really cannot remember what other numbers were being performed. I remembered the band telling the crowd that the Expo was too small a venue for their concert and that they would like to return to Singapore every year to do a concert, but at Indoor Stadium and then it was time to bring down the roof of Expo. So, I was thinking to myself, it will be a while before they return to Singapore for another show. I was speculating maybe another 18 months later.

To my delight, I did not have to wait so long to see them again.

As we had all missed the last train back to City, the rest of us decided to have supper. It was the first time I had supper, the Hong Kong yum cha type. It reminded me of the time I was studying in Melbourne, Australia and Saturday nights were always filled with activities such as walking to the casino to eat.

After that night, I felt better, and more confident to face each day. Regardless of whatever challenges faced, I am sure that there will be ways to overcome them. Their songs have truly inspired me and I am able to handle much problems, whether successful or not is another story.

Let me just say that their songs have given me strength to move on and look forward to each day with much optimism. I am now much happier and despite the fact that there are many difficulties and challenges to face everyday, I have also learn to accept and overcome them with more positivity.

The most obvious change in me after the concert is that I have become addicted to Mayday concerts. While their albums are fantastic, their concerts are simply, more than words can describe. Whether they are truly the Beatles of Asia, I am not sure, but to crown them either the Beatles of Mandarin Rock, they truly deserve it!

MayDay Rocks!!!

MayDaymania - 知足

One month earlier, I did not know any of MayDay's works except for 《孙悟空》,《恋爱 - ING》, 《为爱而生》and 《我有初恋了》. And then, I would be off to catch my first MayDay's concert on Saturday, 2nd June 2007. But I needed to know more their works, so, I bought their 《知足》 compilation, consisiting of songs from their fifth album, Hokkien songs and some other new songs.

This was my first MayDay's album. And with one karaoke session so that I would know more of their works, I had yet to listen to the CD compilation. I thought that Mayday concert would only last for at most two hours. I did not know what to expect for a MayDay concert. I was not ready. I just thought they would sing most of the songs from their latest album, so, I asked B to lend me the album so that I would know the songs.

Let me just say that after what I thought was a good preparation to seeing their concert, I was completely wowed overed, completely overwhelmed and went completely obsessed!!!

What have I become???

Maydaymania - MayDay? Who?

I have never imagined that I will attend a Mandarin concert, let alone a Mandarin rock concert. This was beyong my wildest imagination. I cannot tell you how I fell in love with MayDay, their music and songs. All I can tell is that if not for B, I will, perhaps, never never never, like MayDay. I think the MayDay fans who have followed and grown up with them since day 1 will be angry with me. But hey, MayDay has managed to convince me to love them after all these years of hard work.

Really, I do not know what has gotten into me when they first started out. All I can tell you now is that when they were invited to raise funds on a certain local charity show, I would walk away and not see them. I did not like them and found their song 《知足》 extremely irritating when it was used as an ending credit for a local drama series. I would try means and ways to find fault with them. Seriously, till now, I was not sure what caused me to detest them so much.

Of all the members, I dislike Ashin most. Really!!! Surprise? Well, I disliked all of them but Ashin the most. I found him a show off and simply annoying. The other members were alright although I do remember finding Masa rather annoying too. Really, fellow MayDay fans should hate me in the past because, I really did not know what was wrong with me.

Many friends around me knew and had heard of their songs. Ah Juan even their first three albums and had liked them for a while. Xiu, who was much younger than me, also liked MayDay for just before they released their fifth album.

So, what exactly caused me to dislike them so much then? Was it family influence? Was it peer pressure? Was it the fact that it was rock? Was it that they were not good looking enough? Seriously, I really cannot answer this question. When I heard their collaborated work with Stefani Sun aka 孙燕姿 and FIR called "First Day", I switched off the radio. When I first heard "Noodle Prince", which Mayday sang it with Stefani Sun on TV, I walked away.

Funny right???

And then, after attending their 2007 concert, I was a converted fan. They wowed me over.

Amazing... ...

MayDaymania - 《恋爱 - ING》 Part II

B and I attended the MayDay's 7th album promotional showcase concert at Stadium Green @ Singapore Indoor Stadium

A couple of months ago, I asked my buddy - B, how she got addicted to MayDay because I swore it was her who got me hook onto MayDay. She revealed that it was her younger sister who introduced her to MayDay as her younger sister is a big fan of MayDay.

And then, one day, while watching TV with her family, B saw MayDay singing 《恋爱 - ING》 and was immediately attracted to that song. I think B told me that she sort of vowed that she was going to sing this song if she ever got a chance to go to karaoke. And then, she waited and waited... ....

8th January 2007, B and I were at the karaoke for the very first time. It was also the first time for B to attend a karaoke session, to hold the mike, to select a song and to sing. She happily selected 《恋爱 - ING》 by MayDay and was happily singing it - it was like a dream came true for her. And that was when someone shove the mike to me and made me sing the song too... ...

This is the beginning of our MayDaymania - 《恋爱 - ING》!

MayDaymania - 恋爱-ING

Who would have thought that I will ever be addicted to MayDay? Let alone attend their concert. But the reality is, I am a MayDay fan now. I do not know what have made me to be so insanely obsessed with them, but, I suppose, as the blogs follow, I will be able to find the answer.

MayDay, a Taiwanses band formed in 1999, consists of Monster (怪兽) - band leader and guitarist, Ashin (阿信) - lead vocalist cum lyricist cum composer, Stone (石头) - guitarist, Masa (玛莎) - Bassist and Ming (冠佑) - drummer. I can remembered very vividly that when I first went to attend their concert in 2007, I could not tell put the name to the correct face, with the exception of Ashin and Monster. I can also remember that in 2007, I liked Monster best and disliked Ashin most!!!

Funny, right?

So, how did this infatuation with MayDay begin? It all began with a song 《恋爱 - ING》... ...

Date: 8th January 2007
Venue: Tanjong Pagar Community Centre KTV

This was the first time I stepped in to a karaoke lounge. I have always felt that karaoke is an unhealthy and indecent activity. Do not ask me why I felt the way I felt, but I just "look down" on karaoke, despite the fact that my parents attend karaoke sessions quite often. In addition, I also felt that karaoke was for people who cannot sing!!!

Nevertheless, and reluctantly enough, I went to the karaoke session with a bunch of colleagues. They made me felt comfortable and soon, I was humming to whatever they were singing. I did not want to hold the microphone and most importantly, I did not want to sing!!! I know, I know, silly right? I felt kind of disgusted. Strangely disgusted... ... I felt tainted and unhealthy and immoral. Till now, I could not understand why I felt that way.

It was close to closing time but I was still reluctant to sing. Someone, I think my Buddy, had already selected and sang 《恋爱 - ING》 by Mayday. By some magical power, the song made everyone quite happy. And then, I found myself singing along to the song when it was being played again although I could not remember who sang it the second time.

Then, my friends shoved the microphone to me and "made" me sing 《恋爱 - ING》 by MayDay as I had not sang a single song by any particular artist the whole evening I was there. Not that I mind, but it seemed to the only song I could sing quite comfortably and managed with ease. And then, we were all singing this song on "repeat" mode at the karaoke.

After that night, I was thinking to myself, it would be fun to attend their concert. That song was so cute!!! A few days or maybe weeks later, my Buddy told me that MayDay was coming to Singapore to do a mini showcase in order to promote their latest album as well as their upcoming "Jump" World Tour and asked if we were interested to attend their concert as her sister was a big fan of MayDay and Monster. Strangely, Ah Juan, PY, S also decided to attend their concert, which was to be held at Expo.

And then, from the day B queued up for the mini showcase and the tickets, life with MayDay is not the same anymore... ...

Updates on MayDay DNA Concert, Singapore

Well, looks like the local papers do not have anything to comment about Mayday's two concerts here in Singapore. All I can say is, both the concerts were fantastically overwhelming.

Althought I have been to their concerts a few times, I cannot help but feel very excited each time I know they are coming and knowing that I will be attending. I am simply addicted to them.

Will update again soon.

Hope you Monday has been good, so far... ..

Where Have I Been???

Sorry, I am very sorry that I have not been able to update for so long. The reasons are as follow, in NO order of merit:
  1. I have been obsessed with Facebook, once again!
  2. I have been busy being angry with some idiots that I have forgotten that I should be blogging instead of being angry with people.
  3. Busy trying to fine tune my thesis.
  4. Busy trying to scrapbook.
  5. Busy trying to get a decent life.
  6. Busy attending concerts.
  7. Busy reading other bloggers's blog.
  8. Busy "scooping" Big Sweet Land aka BSL at the local arcades. Yes, I am terribly addicted to BSL and confessed to my friends that I have a "BSL demon" in me. It was so bad at one point that I went without my friends!!! I told my friends that I was going home but alas, I went to the arcade at my place to satisfy my craving!!! I was hopeless!!! I think it will take me a while to get to BSL now that EPL has started and I have many more things at hand.
  9. I was using this silly mobile broadband plan, which was sort of "in conflict" with my laptop program, so, it was either taking a long time to load a page or I cannot open multiple pages. Annoying. I have a better mobile broadband now but it is still in some kind of "conflict" as it is not as fast as it should be. This problem will be solved once my thesis has been approved.

I will post more stuff from tomorrow or 1st September onwards. Yes, must update about my scrapbooking experiences, concerts experience and football experiences. These are my true loves!!! Not those morons who are always making me angry!!!

Have a good week ahead.

An Organized Mess Part 1

Well, I have been trying to tidy up my room, but it is just not going on well. The weather is too hot and humid and before I can continue for another five minutes, I am drenched in my own sweat.

Now, I just sit and just try not to do much.

These days are just too hot and humid to do anything... ... Will try to update some stuff soon.

Critical???

I just cannot understand why there are people who cannot stop complaining about other people? Are they happier exposing fellow colleagues' weaknesses/faults? Why do they stoop so low as to complain excessively about one's weakness and even report it to the Supervisor? What do they stand to gain out of all these discouraging acts of selfishness?

Complaints, complaints, complaints... ...

I sure hope that these people who derive joy out of complaining/demeaning others will realise that they are often the ones with the biggest problems.

Give others a chance to improve themselves. Advise them, guide them along patiently and I am sure, respect will be earned.

Respect is to be earned, not demanded. Just because one staff is more seasoned than the other, it does not give the so-called "seniors" to demean others. Good teamwork is not only about working together with like-minded people but also helping one another to improve. A senior staff who only criticizes and amplifies a new staff's faults will eventually be the most unpopular person at any workplace and they have only themselves to blame when other staffs begin to distant themselves from them.

Be generous with encouragements and the returns will be more than one can ask for.

Love Him??? Love Him Not???

I have been asking myself lately if I really, truly, tremendously, extremely in love/crush with Teddy Bear. I know this sounds really dumb because on one of my previous entry, I had declared that I am no longer "in crush"/secretly in love with this other guy. However, how far have I let it go? Is Teddy just a spare? Why am not I that interested in Teddy anymore?

What is wrong with me???

Maybe I have been attracted to Wii. Hah! Good excuse!

Will think about it when I am less tired. Gonna wake up at 530am later!!! Yawn.

Having a slight ear infection. Sigh. First, conjunctivitis, then cough, then sore throat, then lose my voice, then sore throat and now, ear infection!!! Gee, something is terrible wrong with my personal hygiene!!!

The Duck Rice War

Date: 13th March 2009, Friday
Weather: Raining Heavily (the cats and dogs kind)

Yesterday, LG and I were to do lunch duty and therefore, we got to go for lunch around 1130am. As the kind souls we usually were, we asked some of staff what they would like to have for lunch so that we could buy their share back as it was raining very heavily.

After much discussion, they had decided that they would all have duck rice for lunch. Only two of them who had special request - one wanted duck noodles while the other did not want bean curd with the duck rice.

So, LG and I went to the foodcourt to enjoy a very entertaining lunch and bought the lunch for the rest of the colleagues.

Before long, LG was furious. The duck rice without beancurd was eaten by someone who did not have special request. Worse of all, the evidence of the "special order" duck rice as indicated by a rubber band was found near ... ...

As speculated, 2K had gone to pantry before most of the staff. She had opened, yes, opened every packet of the duck rice. Upon opening the packet of duck rice tied with the rubber band, she did not tie the rubber band back, and therefore, the rest who came later, did not know of the specially requested duck rice. Someone took the wrong packet without realising that it was the usual duck rice.

When LG and I found out what happened, we were furious:

1) 2K, did not apologize for the mistake
2) She did not tie the "special order" duck rice with the rubber band
3) 2K most probably opened every packet just to pick the packet with the most amount of meat!!!!!
4) 2K did not alert the staff when she found out that another colleague had taken a "strangely ordered" duck rice

Whatever it is, the fact remains that 2K had opened each and every packet of the duck rice meant for others. It was rude and unhygenic. It was also a very selfish act. What is wrong with 2K?

For someone who is nearing 40 in a few years' time, her actions are inconsiderate and selfish. We all know that 2K is very self-centered, bad tempered and perhaps ill-breed, but her acts of opening every packet of duck rice in order to "sieve out" the packet with the most amount of meat, is just beyond anyone's imagination!!! 2K had a degree and holds a relatively high position but she has no basic social etiquette at all!!!

Apologise aside, her constant checking on the rest of the colleagues is also intolerable. If the Supervisor does not even check on us, what is she, a mere fellow co-worker has, in her unremarkable and non-existent power, to check on us and report to the Supervisor? I am sure our Supervisor knows who are genuienly working and who is not.

Whatever it is, this incident shown that there are a number of people who have are just ill-breed by nature. It is a lesson learnt and definitely a reminder that I must not behave in such stone age manner.

Crazy 2k!!!

Conjunctivitis or Dry Eyes

I cannot believe that I am on MC because I have conjunctivitis, in layman's term - sore eye or red eye. I really cannot believe it. Conjunctivitis is all about personal hygiene and I cannot believe that I have been careless about personal hygiene.

Having conjunctivitis in a healthcare setup is a big issue as it is infectious. These cases have to be filed into certain system in case anyone I have come to contact with got infected, I am, hence, the "culprit". This is the reason why I am unhappy to be at home with conjunctivitis.

And because of the discomfort, I have been sleeping the whole of tuesday, wakin up only to instill eye drops, do some light reading and have my meals. In a way, it was a well deserved rest. I supposed the hectic schedule, work load and time spent at Facebook's Pet Society is finally making me abit unhealthy. So, is time I get a good rest and to drink plenty of water, knowing that the water is clean, unlike at work place, where one wonders if the tap is clean.

So, I was thinking of doing some light scrapbooking or some light reading and even doing up my thesis, but I have been lethargic... ...

So, that is for now. Gonna instill the eye drops and then the troublesome eye cream... ....

A Very Eventful February

Well, today marks the end of another month of 2009. It seems like time is passing very quickly and a bit slow at times. I do not know.

February has never pose much problems for me. Be it in school or at work but February in the year of 2009 was hectic - work, thesis writing, emotion and festivities.

While January began with much activity from seeing MayDay and then to Lunar New Year, February began with much work, mainly preparation for the coming audit. As the original in charge of the duty will not be around, I, as the reserve, will be "playing with the first team".

And then, there is the news that someone whom I have been having a terrible crush on will be leaving for greener pasture. Friends and colleagues have been asking me if I will miss him and I will be awfully dishonest if I said "no". I remembered being sad, angry, disappointed and irritated when I learnt that he was leaving the current workplace.

I always think that he will not leave the current workplace for any reasons. I used to argue with him when he told me that he will not be swayed by any reasons to move even when I tempted with a big paycheck. But now, it seems like he is indeed moving and I have won the argument that he will indeed move on one day.

Whatever it is, it only shows that there is no way we will ever get into any serious relationship. Our differences are drifting apart as the years go by. Perhaps, it is fortunate that we have never started on anything serious.

I know that I am not the right person for him. Naively, I thought I could change his mind about me but it is getting useless. (Thanks to all my friends who think I can make a differenece) He is kinder and much gentler to other women and I am, at best, an ear for him to rant. Come to think of it, I have never been a friend. He looks at things macroscopically while I can look at things from the macro aspect all the way to nanoscopic if need. I am not merticulous but analytical, maybe.

He is leaving us when this is going to be a time for us to grow and mature even more, professionally. Whatever his reasons are for leaving, I will wish him all the best. I can imagine that the next time he bump into any of us, we will all have become better professionals, equipped with better knowledge and skills he can ever think of.

So, this is my February.

Busy with work, thesis writing and tons of other things and events.

Nothing makes me happier now than spending time with my friends, reading, preparing my thesis, scrapbooking and keeping updated with events relating to my favourite football team and band.

Happy Lunar New Year

A Very Happy Lunar New Year to everyone!

Today is the second day of the lunar new year and at this time of writing, we are waiting for my sister to get herself ready for the Lunar New Year.

Yesterday marks the first day of the Lunar New Year and as our family tradition goes, it was omy family's turn to host the annual "Tan Clan" Lunar New Year family gathering. There was not much exciting except the usual gossips and the usual comparisons of one's sucess as defined by monetary gains?!?!?!

Aunty "Fishball" will traditionally rant on and on about her children's success, the size of the flats, how clever the grandchild is and so on and so forth. Yes, this is the one time you will see me unconventionally and extremely quiet. Most of the time, I am not interested in their lame conversation.

Aunty "Fishball", as tradition goes, will gladly tell you that it is enough to meet only once annually so that there will be much to catch up on. Catch up on what??? Enough??? What does she mean by enough!!!???? Is that what family gathering and ties mean to her??? What exactly is wrong with her??? But then again, since she is the much dreadful relative of ours, I agree with entirely with her that we should only meet once annually. Enough is enough... ...

And of course, there is this wife of my cousin who wanted to comment the LV and Prada of kuehs!!! Luckily before she could say anything, she saw the price tag on the bottles and decided to shut up before I glared her to blindness!!!! I know I am evil!!!

So, we are now waiting for my sister to get herself ready then we will visit my maternal grandparents and then there will be so much more to talk about. Even with so much family gatherings at my grands', there will always be much to talk about. My littelest cousin will have something to talk about, even telling you that she supports Obama!!!! And mind you, she's only 11!!!!

So, who says that meeting once annually is enough!!?? Well, meeting once annually is enough if one is not well like or if the person is the much dreadful relative!!!

Enough said.

Getting ready to travel soon.

Happy Lunar New Year!

May the year of the Ox brings much prosperity, good luck, good health, joy and happiness to all!!!

New Year's Day, Birthday, MayDay

The 10th Day of the new year, of the new month and the days are so full of activites.
I began the new day of 2009 without doing much. Just lazing around and getting some much needed rest. Hence, the new day of the new year was spent surfing the net, getting as much sleep as I could, reading the Twilight series and basically, just lazing around.
On the second day of 2009, I went to Agnes's place to help Xiu in "personalising" a present for her boyfriend. While I was busy watching tv, Xiu was made to complete her mini layout on the spot. This was also the first time that I discovered that Bedok hawker has many good food to offer for a very good price.
Third day - went to do some work and visited my grandparents after that.
Forth day - Date with MayDay

Seen here with some of the girls and a "new" friend

Ashin - lead vocalist/lyricist/composer of Mayday

MayDay's curtain call

Fifth day - "Emoing" upon knowing that my favourite England and Chelsea leftback has left for Manchester City.
Sixth day - Dining with my friends at Cedele for my birthday.
Seventh day - Dining with friends cum colleagues for my birthday.
Eigth day - Dining with friends at New York New York for my birthday.
Ninth day - Shopping.
Tenth day - Scrapbooking crop at Changi Simei CC.
Yes, these were my activies for the past ten days on top of having to go to work from Monday to Friday (fifth day to the nonth day). I know it seems crazy having one birthday dinner after another but I love them all. In fact, I would say that my birthday celebration began on 4th January 2009 when my friends and I went to attend Mayday's concert. It was an outdoor concert and there was a audience size of 6000 plus!!!
Ashin, the lead vocalist might have sound a bit hoarse having just recovered from his cold, he was still fantastic. The stand-in drummer was cool too. He was very young but he played very well. Not bad for a "stand-in".
Alright. Enjoy the pictures and I will continue more tomorrow.

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009

Well, it is a brand new year as of today.

It is a new day of the new year, of 2009 today bu I have spent the first day of 2009 catching up on my sleep and some reading up. I think the lack of sleep is giving my tummy some problems recently.

Let me see, what are some of the exciting things I have done in 2008:

Concerts Attended:
March - Maroon 5
April - MayDay
August - SodaGreen
October - A-Mei

Autograph Session Attended:
MayDay
SodaGreen
Jam Xiao JingTeng
Ashin of MayDay
Stone of MayDay

Scrapbooking Events:
Luxe Night at MWL
Marathon Style Scrapbooking Lesson with Kah-Mei Smith of FontWerks at Laines
Crop at Simei CC with Our Craft Place

Another exciting event had to be the inaugural F1 night race held in Singapore. I am glad I am also part of history making, which saw Fernando Alonso of Renault winning this race.

Oh, I really have to mention this. I have never seen any books which were out of stock so immediately and so desperately in need such a relatively short time. When was the last time we saw any books in such high demand? The Twilight series must have hit the best-selling list in many bookstores in Singapore. The books were out so soon and before you know it, you are on the waiting list for the books. I was nearly on the waiting list too but I am glad that I managed to get the entire set at MPH.

Yes, the appeal of Twilight has been overwhelming. Especially the demand of the books. I do not know that books can have such huge appeal. Not since the Harry Potter series. For now, I am waiting for my fan badges to arrive. Yes, I have bought a bag of Twilight badges online (for the serious fans). Hee hee... ... I am crazy!!!

What is in-store for me in 2009 then?

Loads. To name a few:
1) MayDay showcase at Stadium Green on Sunday, 4th January 2009
2) more scrapbooking works, classes and related events
3) F1 in Singapore
4) tour

That's about if for now. Can't think of anymore for now.

Back to Twilight reading again.
